Week Ninety Nine

Well, I'm not really sure what I should write this week. We have been working really hard and we've been having a ton of fun and it's really paid off. I've been doing lots of reflection this last week and it's just insane to me how fast time is going. We are already half way through the change and we've already had a few great experiences. The highlight of this week was on Sunday after Stake Conference. The building was packed here in Zihua and we were a little worried that with the heat and cramped seating conditions that our investigators may not have a great experience. Afterwards, we went and grabbed our investigators so that we could introduce them to President Egginton. He hugged them and made them feel really welcomed and then afterwards we talked to them to find out how they felt. Well, one of them, a girl we've been working with to try and get baptized for the end of the transfer, just looked at us and said that she was ready. She has gotten a testimony and for me, surrounded by people in that crowded room, that was a special moment. Just a small, nod of her head and a confirmation that she was ready, even though there was noise and people all over the place, the whole world in its own commotion, and the spirit filled my being confirming to me that she has had that confirmation. It was a really spiritual thing. But yeah, it would be a great blessing to witness her baptism here so we're hoping that it all works out.

That's about all I've got for this week.

Have a good one.

Week Ninety Eight

Happy late Father's Day Dad!! Hope that it was a good one!

This week was awesome! We had a ton of work and I don't think that there was a dull moment in the week. Two or three funny highlights from this week...

1. On Friday night we were all just chilling outside because we were on divisions with the zl's and all of a sudden we just heard this huge ruccous down below our house(we live on the third floor). Just a ton of noise and a ton of barking out of nowhere so we all stand up like what the heck is going on out there and run to the balcony. We look out in amazement as we see this huge pack of dogs running around in the street barking at random things and going crazy. We're talking about a solid 10 or 11 dogs here. So it occurred to one of us to go get my comps laser pointer and he got the laser pointer out and started guiding the huge pack of dogs around. It was seriously funny as heck. We had full control over those dogs. Then after a minute or two they just ran off into the night and we never saw them again.

2. I went on divisions with an Elder Ojeda! He's a super awesome guy and we had a lot of work. In one of our appointments we had a lesson with a really less active guy. Well, he was really offensive and he was trying to offend us for the whole appointment. We are both pretty experienced so he wasn't really able to make us mad or something, but there came a point in the lesson where we stumped him and he had nothing left to say. We just humbly invited him to pray again to know it the Book of Mormon was true and he didn't now how to respond to that. He thinks for a minute and then responds.. I have prayed to know.. and I have read the Bible.. and it clearly says in the Bible that the Catholic church is the true church of God. He said that with all seriousnesss! haha I literally busted up laughing in front of this guy because I couldn't hold it in. It was kind of crazy and sad and funny all at the same time. I just accepted it and we decided to leave him that invitation and end the lesson. I regained my composure, covered up the laughing and we left. Really sad experience to see when people go like that. I have a firm testimony that these things are true and it's pretty hard to hear the opposite sometimes.

Other than that we have had lots of success. We have a couple potential baptismal dates coming up and we're praying like crazy for them to happen.
This week we had 14 less actives in attendance at the Sacrament Meeting. We were super happy for that. Also 3 investigators came. Including us 2 we made up 17 people in attendance out of 48 in total. Super awesome stuff.

Have a good week.

I love you guys.

Week Ninety Seven

Hey, this week was a pretty great week.

Not much to say. We're having a real great time and we've had a ton of funny experiences. From teaching the Bishop Spanish to messing around with the two latin Elders in our apartment, the whole day is just a laugh.

One thing I learned this week was to respect agency. Some of our investigators were progressing pretty well and then on Sunday when we went to see them they just completely lied to our faces and rejected us. It was kind of sad but at the same time we walked away really happy and really positive because we knew that we are one step closer to finding the Lord's chosen and prepared children.

Other than that not much is happening around here. Sorry the letter is so short, I totally forgot to write one.

Week Ninety Six

All is well here in Zihua. Today was transfers. I will be ending off my mission here with Elder Herrmann. Super stoked and super excited to keep up the good work.

This week we had a really spiritual experience. Around Monday or Tuesday we went to meet with a less active sister who lives on top of this super huge mountain here in Zihua. Anybody whose ever seen pictures of this place can imagine that scene. Just two white guys in church clothes sweating at the bottom of a huge outside trail looking towards the top. Haha, we just looked at each other laughed and started slowly making our way up. Well, as we started up the mountain, it was pretty hard.  It was probably a solid 20 minute climb, and we debated if it would be better to just come back another day when it wasn't so hot and we weren't so tired. It's hot outside, we're just soaked in sweat, I swear that the freaking dogs that just roam the streets are eyeing us for their meal of the day. Well, we decided and felt that we needed to go see this sister and we climbed all the way to the top. 10 more minutes pass by and we finish off basically crawling over the last stair. We regained our energies and panted for a solid 2 and a half minutes and went to knock on the sister's door. She lives in this little wooden house on a cliff side so that in itself was another mini adventure but we got there and long story short we found out that their son had been kidnapped this last week! Definitely not expecting to hear that. We took the decision to teach them about faith and we had a good lesson. As we ended the lesson, the sister asked me to say a prayer and I don't know why or how, but I felt the incredible prompting that I should pray that her son would come back safe and sound. As the words left my mouth I felt like a total idiot because I don't know, whenever people disappear here in Mexico, it's very likely that they never show up again. So yeah, I said that somehow and ended the prayer. I was nervous to do that because obviously it was a really rough situation, but I did it. We ended the lesson and walked on over to another appointment and the rest of the week went on as normal. Well, two days ago when we went back to see her.  She was super happy to see us and she came out beaming because her son had been recovered! It was definitely a miracle. She now wants her two youngest children to get out to church and take the lessons and be baptized. It was a great experience. We learned faith.

Other than that all is well. I love my new companion! We get along super well and we've had a ton of fun and a ton of great experiences over the last week and a half. I can't wait to see how these next 6 weeks go.

So yeah. Have a good week, do good stuff and all that.

I will be ponderizing Matthew 25:40. Really great scripture.

Stay gold ponyboy,

Elder Clifford
